Community Service
Volunteering at an Emergency Food Pantry
In our community service, we lift the weight of hunger by carefully packing 25+ lb. food cases into individual boxes, tailored for families in need. Our volunteers handle each box with care, using hand trucks to deliver food cases weighing over 100 lbs. Together, we’re making access to nutritious food not just effortless, but infused with the warmth of community spirit.

City Park Tree-planting activities
We took part in the tree planting event at Schiller Park, organized by Onondaga Earth Corps and Syracuse Park Department. During the event, we gained insights from Park Department staff about the lifecycle and unique features of trees. Working collaboratively, we planted several trees of medium and small sizes with the assistance of the Park Department.
Manlius Independence Day celebration 2021
Rock Academy teamed up with the Manlius Community Center to help organize the 2021 Independence Day parade and festivities. This hands-on experience not only allowed students to actively contribute to the community but also provided them with a vibrant opportunity to immerse themselves in American culture.

Coaching in Youth Basketball camp
In August 2022, the Rock member facilitated Northside Church Upward Youth Program in Liverpool, New York. We developed a practice schedule and tailored the program specifics specifically for level 4 boys players. Our hands-on coaching approach allowed us to guide these young players in acquiring diverse skills, strategies, and teamwork experience. Moreover, we facilitated vibrant discussions, actively instilling values in the kids as part of their growth and learning journey.
Internship in Syracuse Government
Being inspired by many community leaders’ stories, including Mayor Ben Walsh, Rock member Nate Pan is committed to devoting time outside the classroom to interning for the City of Syracuse.
